President-elect Obama has named his chief of staff – Rahm Emanuel. Mr Emanuel has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 2003, representing Illinois’s 5th congressional district.
Rahm Emanuel has been a staunch supporter of gay civil rights and has earned a rating of 100% from HRC for his voting record on LGBT issues. Equally important, I think he is ever so dreamy.
Despite the devastating losses in Tuesday’s election with straight allies like Rahm Emanuel it is just a matter of time, however long, that we too shall over come and gain equal rights in my beloved country.
A small victory in a flood of hate
November 5, 2008 – 11:32 amThere was a small, but significant, Marriage Equality Victory for my state, Connecticut.
The haters, with the financial support of the Catholic Church, were trying to have a Constitution Convention to add voter driven initiatives to our state constitution. For the sole purpose of having our own version of Prop 8.
The haters lost. 60% of the voters said NO to a Constitution Convention ensuring my right to marry the man I Love.
The only vehicle they have left is the normal amendment process, which is not likely to pass. The majority of the legislature passed Civil Unions three years ago with ease. It is doubtful they would overturn last month’s CT State Supreme Court decision allowing same sex couples to marry.
So come November 12, same sex couples can marry in Connecticut. Unfortunately with all the discriminatory legislation out there, the marriages will only be recognized by Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, California (for now.) In New Hampshire and New Jersey they would be recognized as Civil Unions. I’m so proud to live in the North East.

You’re really a softie, loyal to your friends and family and A-OK with meeting new pooches, but you prefer to do so with a high-five instead of a paw-shake. Proud of your great sense of humor, you’ve got a whole litter of jokes you draw from to keep the mood playful and the positive energy alive. A perfect afternoon for you involves a leisurely stroll with a pal, followed by a little downtime in an easy chair with a frosty can of brew and a remote control within easy fetching distance. You shed accusations of being lazy, knowing perfectly well that you’re kenneling the energy you might need for… well… something.
Really!? I like the description, but the Bulldog is hardly one of my favorite breeds. Seriously!? I’m just like George W Bush!!!!???? I’ll take the compliment of Ellen, Whoopi and Jack Black, but fucking W? Highly insulting.
